I don't think that most couples in this side of the world spend time exercising together. I mean if you were spending the weekend at your partner's (for those who aren't married) or just spending time together away from work, working out together might not be top on your "to do list", but there's a lot of benefits of working out with your partner.
Research has shown that people tend to be more active when working out with someone or in a group.
I spent the last 5wks living in the same house with 2 ladies (thanks to work) and even though we were not on the same fitness level, I was able to get them to workout and each time we did I realised that I was more willing to surpass my previous limits, thanks to the motivation their energy and presence emitted!
Simply put, it was fun working out with Stessi Chima and Ify Brown.
Whether you're working out with your bff, partner or spouse, here are some benefits of having a workout partner.
Safety: When you're working out with someone, they can watch and correct your form. We all know that it's paramount to get the correct form of every exercise, or else you'll only be causing harm to your body.
When I was working out with Stessi and Ify, I helped correct their form when they got it wrong and now even on their own they can exercise without the fear of attaining the wrong form.
Quality time: Thanks and no thanks to busy schedules, career and other responsibilities, married couples spend most of their time apart. During a common free period, plan your workout routine together such that it fits perfectly into your schedules. You’ll reach
your fitness goals, without sacrificing that one-on-one time that every relationship needs.
Motivation and support: Getting encouragement and praise from your partner is one of the best motivators. It’ll help both of you remain consistent
and take care of one another.
A deeper bond: Exercise produces chemicals in the brain that evoke feelings of happiness, reduce stress, and also increase arousal and libido.
Several studies show that men and women who exercise regularly report better (and more frequent) sex with their partners. Now if you're married and your sex life is almost dead, here's something that could resurrect your sex life
Respect and pride: Taking care of your body and your health shows the person you care about that you want to be your best for them—and that you want to be around for years to come. I'm sure your partner would be pleased to have you workout with them.
I've heard loads of men say that they'd like their wives to get fit. They even compare me with their partners. Instead of stylishly trying to flirt with me (which I never tolerate), why don't you get your partner to workout with you?! I'm sure every woman wants to look her best and no one is alien to a revitalised way of living.
Some exercises you can do with your partner includes; running, jogging, sit ups, squats, salsa, football, crunch, yoga and loads more. The list is simply endless!
