Foods for weight loss: Diet advice for healthy eating

A good weightloss program should comprise of a workout routine and a "workable" meal plan because these two work together. If you pay attention to only exercises and shut out healthy eating, you'll end up getting little or nothing from your workout program and this will only lead to frustration after a short while.

The internet is full of dietary advice and meal plans for those looking to lose weight. Some of these meal plans are fad diets that will only leave you frustrated after few days of struggling to adapt to it.

Good news is, you don't have to live on vegetables and green tea in the name of weightloss (cutting short on high calorie foods and drinks is a step in the right direction). Below is a list of foods drinks you can incorporate into your meals.

Your dietary staples should include the following:

Whole eggs; Alot of people have been made to believe that egg is unhealhty for the heart, but the truth is the effect of egg consumption on blood cholesterol is minimal when compared with the effect of trans fats and saturated fats. Research has shown that the risk of heart disease may be more closely tied to the foods that accompany the eggs,  such as the saturated fat or oils with trans fats used to fry the eggs.

A new study by scientists reveals that eating eggs for breakfast makes you feel fuller for longer so that you eat less at your next few meals. For those trying to lose weight, this is great news because you'll find it easier to cut calories without feeling hungry. Based on the results of this new study, you could lose up to 2kg a month simply by eating eggs for breakfast.

Eggs are packed with a variety of nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and vitamins A, D, E
and B12, but a single egg contains just 85 calories.

Lean animal protein sources (including but not limited to):
Most turkey and chicken in general, especially if it is skinless. Turkey and chicken breasts especially, (for those trying to gain muscle mass fattier meats are acceptable).
Ground turkey, chicken, beef or pork. Virtually all forms of fish, even the fattier fishes are very good for you. Tuna, while also good, you should eat this paringly if you're concerned about mercury consumption.
Also exotic meats like, lamb, buffalo, alligator etc are good (if you can find them).

Whole grains : (including but not limited to):

Whole wheat bread: When eating this, you can substitute butter for honey or avocado. Wheat bread will keep you fuller for longer and tame your appetite, thanks to it being rich in fibre.

Whole wheat pasta: An excellent way to enjoy this is with vegetable omelet.

Brown rice: Try eating brown rice with vegetables in fish sauce.

Try incorporating virtually all fruits and vegetables, including beans and dry-roasted nuts into your meals.
Aside being satiating, vegetables are rich in almost every essential micronutrient and help with digestion. They also protect against a variety of diseases .

When cooking, it's advisable to use healthy fats like olive oil (for sauces, dressings & low-temperature cooking) and canola oil (for high-temperature cooking). Omega-3 rich fish oil is also good.

Drinks: Water is a must for everyone! Who doesn't drink water? If you're looking for alternatives for soda that are not boring, try dairy products like plain yogurt and low fat milk. Lemon and lime water is top on the list of healthy drinks for weight loss. It's not news that these two are excellent fat burners.

Fruit juices are excellent for those with sweet tooth and everyone really. Aside all the nutrients they contain, they could help redeem those sold to the "sugar department". It's advisable to go for all natural fruit juice.

With the above food items and drinks, your meals don't have to be boring simply because you're adopting a healthy way to eat for the sake of weight loss and healthy living.

    1. Hi dear, have you checked your BMI? Sometimes you'd need to lose general weight inorder to lose belly fat but since you said you're not overweight, you can cut out the cardio and stick to abdominal exercises and squats. Detox water help you lose belly fat...Try to exercise 3-4 times a week...
