Before embarking on a weight loss journey, or any workout routine, it's essential to know your weight and health status. Are you overweight or underweight? You can determine this by calculating your BMI(body mass index).
BMI is a measurement of body fat based on your height and weight. BMI applies to both genders between ages 18-65 years. Calculating your BMI will help you know if your weight is normal or not. According to some health experts, a healthy BMI result is between 18.5-25. Any score below 18.5 indicates that you may be underweight and any score above 25 indicates that you may be overweight. Results above 35 indicate that you're obese.
However, it's important to discuss any concern you have about your weight with a doctor who's in position to address your specific weight problem. BMI is one of many ways to assess your weight and you can calculate your BMI using the BMI calculator or the BMI formula below.
Metric BMI formula
BMI= (weight in kilograms / (height in metres * height in metres) )
English BMI formula
BMI = ( Weight in pounds / (height in inches * height in inches) ) * 703
(I used the asterisk symbol in place of the multiplication symbol because I can't seem to find the multiplication symbol on my ipad)
PS: before engaging in any workout program or exercise, please consult your doctor if you have any illness or injuries. Also consult your doctor if you recently gave birth.
Are you going to calculate your BMI? Do you think you're overweight or underweight? Please do tell us. Leave your comments and suggestions below.
