Healthy Ways To Gain Weight


While most people are interested in losing weight, some at the other end of the scale struggle with weight gain and constantly try not to be underweight or too skinny. Sometimes I've had to fight this battle myself. I tend to lose weight easily, no thanks (and thanks) to some physical activities in my weekly routine.

Some causes of weight loss include illness, excessive exercises and stress. While downing loads of high calorie foods and drinks is an easy way to gain weight, eating healthy still remains the best, because a junk filled diet devoid of nutrients doesn't give your body much to work with.

Here are healthy ways to gain weight;


1. Eat every four hours: most nutritionists and dieticians recommend eating every four hours because your body needs a continuous supply of energy. When you skip meals, you deprive your body of the energy it needs to function and you permit it to dip into your energy bank which unfortunately includes muscle mass. To prevent this, the best way to eat is eat regular meals spaced between three to five hours.

2. Eat healthy but dense foods; nutritionists recommend nutrients rich foods that pack loads of carbohydrates, protein or fat in a small serving. Always try to incorporate three different food groups into your meal. This provides your body with a broader spectrum of nutrients to work with. Try to snack on dried fruits and nut in-between meals.

3. Eat right before going to bed; While you're asleep, a lot of healing and repair takes place in your body, so eating a healthy meal before bed time ensures the right supply of nutrient that go to work inside your body.

List of foods that help you gain weight the healthy way

Whole fat milk: nutritionists recommend swapping skim milk for whole fat milk because it contains more fat.

Salmon: this is rich in protein and also helps increase weight.

Peanut butter: peanut butter on bread gives you approximately 192 calories and it is extra high in protein.

Whole eggs: This is economical and loaded with vitamins A,D, E and good cholesterol.

Other healthy foods include; avocado, chicken, banana, wheat bread, walnuts, cashew nuts, potatoes and plantain.
