Nigerian Medical Association, Let Kids Go Back To School- Enraged Student

I got this email from a concerned student and I decided to share it here.

"According to Nelson Mandela "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world".We can never understand the power that education brings in through the life of a person. The former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar recently claimed how much education have made him who he is today and he totally gave glory to the great masterpiece education and how it had manoeuvred his life greatly.

The bible also stamps a huge ground on how important knowledge is. The bible says with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). The bible also says people perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). I see no reason education should be toiled with, delayed or hindered no matter the scenario. The fact that education is important every other thing that thrives to hinder it should be dealt with some other way and I repeat nothing should hinder education.

It is no more news that the Nigerian Medical Association of Nigeria are requesting for the resumption of primary and secondary schools in Nigeria by December or next year January and this is as a result of the Ebola outbreak. I ask, why should this outbreak hinder school resumption in the country? What if by December and January the ebola outbreak outlook is scarier? The government should look into how to keep students safe in schools and not derailing their education. The pressure that will be put on teachers and students should the resumption of schools be around December or January would be very detrimental.

The Nigerian educational system is already suffering a huge set back then I wonder how much hurt this would cause the educational system. The schools’ curriculum would be rushed and education rushed with the already lackadaisical attitude given to education by most teachers in the country, the end would be terrible.  I strongly urge the Nigerian government not to heed to the request placed by the Nigerian Medical Association for it doesn’t do the nation any good. I won’t be surprised if those in the association pushing for this have their children schooling abroad. What’s your take on this matter?"
