Hello Beauties! Forgive my AWOLness, my work on set of Emerald TV drama series has made my schedule really tight, but it's quite flexible now. Today's post is on dry skin in fulfillment of a blog reader's request.
Dry skin isn't considered the ultimate skin type by most ladies and this is no thanks to its characterisation that includes dullness and flakiness.
Factors that contribute to dry skin include; harmattan , winter, genes and even nutritional deficiencies, but managing this skin type can be easy with natural home remedies that are cheap but effective.
Let's checkout some natural home remedies that nourish and hydrate dry skin.
Natural home remedies for dry skin
Aloe vera: Aloe vera is my favourite plant thanks to its multiple uses for skin, hair, and health care. This plant is rich in antioxidants and moisturising properties that combat dry skin. The best way to use Aloe vera is to apply the gel directly to your skin. Aloe vera also helps eliminate other skin blemishes.
When using Aloe vera for my skincare, I apply the gel to my skin and let it sit till it's totally absorbed, but, you can let it sit for 20-30 minutes and then rinse your face with warm water.
Olive oil: Olive oil is an excellent source of vitamin E which is considered a good emollient for dry skin. This essential oil is also rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that deeply condition dry skin. You can apply olive oil directly to your skin after a warm bath or you could mix it with your body lotion and use this everyday.
Other dry skin remedies include shea butter, coconut oil, almond oil, honey and avocado. My essential oil mixture of shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil saved my skin from the intense winter conditions in South Africa sometime in July.
These are some natural home remedies that you can try. If you know something that works, please share with us by commenting below.

ReplyDeleteI send u a mail.My sheabutter always solidifies when the weather is cold,is it normal?
I add aloe Vera n lemon juice to my sheabutter, will it still be very effective?
Hi dear, the form of your Shea butter is determined by your room temperature and general weather condition...
DeletePlease don't mix aloevera gel with the lemon juice and Shea butter, apply them separately. U can use the Shea butter in the morning and in the evening after cleaning your face with lemon or lime juice , you can then apply the aloevera juice...
Thanks for the info.
