Puffy eyes: Natural home remedies for puffy eyes/eye bags

Puffy eyes or eye bags can be a major setback especially when you have a great day ahead of you. I woke up with puffy eyes today, but I didn't let them dictate the beginning of my day because of a major photoshoot I have. I considered and used the treatments for puffy eyes available to me at home and that triggered my decision to write this post.

Some factors responsible for puffy eyes include; too much crying, hangover, stress, change in weather and even our genes. For me, I get puffy eyes when I have a hangover (that hasn't happened in a long time), when I'm really stressed and when I cry. Yes I cry... I'm not alien.

Let's look at some home remedies that can get rid of puffy eyes.

1. Water: The easiet way to avoid and get rid of puffy eyes is to drink enough water. I'm talking at least 6 glasses of water. When the body is properly hydrated, chances of water retention in the eyelids are minimal. Aside getting rid of puffy eyes, water also helps to flush out toxins from the body. It's advisable to cut short on caffeine and soft drinks as they can cause dehydration.

2. Tea bags: Placing a tea bag over your eyes lids can help reduce puffy eyes and irritations. According to research, tea bags are effective against puffy eyes because they contain some anti-irritant properties and antioxidants that soothe the eyes. This is my favourite treatment for puffy eyes because it is always available in my house or wherever I make my home. Both black and green tea are good for this purpose. To use teabag as puffy eyes treatment, simply immerse teabags in hotwater, leave them for a few minutes, bring them out and let them cool, then place them over your eyelids for 5-10 minutes. This should help relieve puffy eyes because they work for me.

3 . Cucumber: Cucumber is a natural remedy that helps eliminate puffy eyes thanks to the enzymes and aastringent properties it possesses. Cucumber may also help get rid of wrinkles around the eyes. To use cucumber for this purpose, cut thin slices of it and let it get cold by placing it in the fridge, place them over your eyeslids and leave them for about 10 minutes. Do this several times a day and your puffy eyes will gradually reduce.

These are my top 3 home remedies for puffy eyes/ eye bags. Other remedies include, cold metal spoon and potato slices. You'll be offering your puffy eyes relief by placing any of these over your eyelids.

Are you gonna be trying any of these treatments, or do you know any thing that works? Please leave your comments and suggestions below.
