Insomnia: Why can't I sleep? Heeeelllllp!!!

Have you ever suffered insomnia? Lord, sometimes when you need the sleep, insomnia is a terrible curse. Back in my early days as a TV producer I always had the craziest deadlines to meet, so I'd stay up late working, editing and supervising. Sometimes I'd only sleep for about 2hrs in 2days. Yes! It was that bad (or should I say awesome cos I kinda liked it). I can't say if I liked my insomnia days totally... No I don't think I did because eye bags felt my face was their place of birth.

So what causes insomnia?
According to Wikipedia, the causes of insomnia are "very plenty". From heart disease, to certain illnesses, and even stimulants, caffeine being a serious offender in this category. So many things are responsible for insomnia, but back then it was simply my workload which I totally enjoyed.

Now, as I'm typing this I'm wondering what might be the cause of the resurrection of insomnia in my life. For the past 3days I've only slept 2hrs during the wee hours. Ouch! I honestly don't feel the sleep coming anytime soon! Eeeesh! *exhales deeply*. How to "away" this insomnia... In the past (I'm talking 2yrs ago), vodka and rum would keep me company through the night (on the days I wasn't working), but I gave up on them along time ago. Now that I'm thinking about it all, it's not like they helped my insomnia problem in anyway. No! They simply "almost" turned me into an alcohol addict (trust me, you don't want to hear about it).

Oh well, as I fight this insomnia, I'm going to look for a new found love to keep me company while my eyes and mind battle hard to fall asleep. Wait a second! I'm just going to workout! Yes! I'll workout, sweat, take my bath and maybe I'll find some sleep.

Have you ever suffered insomnia? If you're reading this now, then maybe you're already in the club. LOL.

  2. I suffered insomnia for a long time after my marriage broke up. It was due to depression and confusion and fear of tomorrow. I was stressed out. But then I started taking time to rest and my sleep pattern returned to normal. These days when I can't asleep I take time to rest and then I regain myself afterwards. So my first advice to u is to check if u are stressed up lately and then rest during the day. If by chance your system is like mine u will feel better. If not see a doctor but pls don't do alcohol it's no good.
